Wolfgang’s Steakhouse has carved a name for itself as one of the topnotch places to go to when you crave for that perfectly prepared, seared slab of meat, served hot on the table. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in New York, Beverly Hills, Singapore or Tokyo (and other world cities they’re found in), you get the same classy ambiance, excellent service and food with equal attention to detail.
The steakhouse is named after its founder Wolfgang Zwiener who – for 40 years – served as head waiter of Peter Luger’s in New York. Am amazed at this story, the part where former employee makes it big with a chain of restaurants. Right now, it is Wolfgang’s son Peter Zwiener who is the president and managing partner of the chain’s global operations.

Wolfgang’s is steadily expanding in the Philippines to serve the needs of steak lovers. Did you know they now have three branches: Resorts World Manila (which opened in 2016), Podium Mall in Ortigas and now in One Bonifacio High Street, BGC (near Shang-ri La at the Fort).
The BGC restaurant – which opened before Christmas 2018 – is patterned after the old world charm of New York. It boasts among others, of wooden planked floors and alabaster chandeliers.
The bar looks so good at night. It’s something you’d like to hang out in after work.

When it comes to the menu, the stars of the show are undoubtedly the steaks like the sizzling porterhouse from top quality USDA Prime Black Angus Beef. According to executive chef Amiro Cruz, the meat is dry-aged with a controlled temperature and humidity for an average of 28 days. This results in a tender and juicy steak, grilled in a 1500-degree fahrenenheit broiler with a perfectly caramelized crust.
Tip: order your steak to medium rare or rare doneness to really appreciate the taste of the meat. Best paired with a Chateau St. Jean’s 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, or ask your server.
Aside from the porterhouse (choice of for two, three or four persons), the other meat cuts to choose from are the prime NY sirloin steak, ribeye steak, filet mignon and lamb chops.
There are a variety of sides and vegetables to go with the main dishes. All are generously served and can satisfy two to four persons. These include the creamed spinach, jumbo baked potato, lobster mac & cheese, onion rings, steak fries or steak rice. The house salads like the Wolfgang’s Salad and Beverly Hills Chopped Salad are also a must-try.
From the launch, this beef barley soup was so good and comforting.
You would be surprised to know that for those who prefer to eat ‘light,’ the Wolfgang Steakhouse menu also includes grilled salmon, tuna and lobster. The seafood platter is also good to share among a group of people.
End your meal with the dessert platter consisting of Wolfgang’s mouthwatering treats like their pecan pie, New York cheesecake and tiramisu….you won’t regret it.
