Health is wealth. I also subscribe to the dictum that we must try to be wealthy while healthy. This only makes sense, right? The most money to be made is during our younger years when we are still strong, active and free from disease.
The BPI-Philam Build Life Plus is one of the products I invested in when I was still in the corporate rat race. It combines life insurance plus “forced savings” that I have to commit to for five years and hopefully in 10 years, my investment will double in value. It’s a bit of a sacrifice to make but a wise decision since it’s something that I can look forward to during retirement and/or the unforeseen future.
Being a subscriber, I was excited to check out what’s the latest with Philam during their #LiveBetter Expo held at the Glorietta Activity Center last August. Live Better is a wellness campaign that started with the Philam Vitality program which gave customers rewards for being active and taking charge of their health.
The Expo booths were centered on the four components of the wellness campaign. These are fitness, food, wellness and financial health. We tried going in a treadmill, consulting a financial advisor and some joined a Zumba session.
The highlight of the expo was a program where the crowd got to meet the Philam Life ambassadors in person. Beautifully fit couple Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heusaff as well as their good friend Raymond Gutierrez talked about their wellness journey. It was not something they were born with, they worked hard to achieve fitness.
They shared some of these tips:
1. Start slow on your wellness decision. It doesn’t have to happen all at once or drastically. Take baby steps if those steps are something you will be comfortable with.
2. When it comes to eating, portion control is key.
3. Surround yourself with the right people, those who have the same objective to be fit as you.
4. Practice time management when it comes to diet and fitness activities. Know your priorities.
5. It’s never too late to start today.
“Make a decision to live a better life because what you do will have an impact on your future. Living better starts with you, it’s your decision,” said Solenn.
