The weekend is here and it’s time to treat ourselves. Allow me to give you a heads-up on the Weekend Fiesta at Cucina, Marco Polo Manila’s all-day dining restaurant on the 24th floor which we tried recently.
For only P2,300 net for lunch and P2,650 for dinner, guests can sample premium dishes, aside from the regular buffet selections at Cucina. What’s even more special, 1 buffet is free if you bring two or more friends. This is certainly value for money if somebody’s celebrating a birthday or a milestone in life.
Anyway, I was excited to go to Cucina because of the premium dishes it promised. What are these?
Prime rib with roasted vegetables. Highly recommended to give your body a protein boost…yum! 😛
Fresh sustainable tuna sourced from eco-friendly suppliers. A live fish was put on display in the seafood area and diners can even cut their own slices from it, to savor sashimi-style or have it grilled in the open kitchen.
The cochinillo counter was kept busy by guests like me who are hungry for the crispy skin and tender meat of the roast suckling pig!
Some people say that the paella at Marco Polo Manila is one of the best in the city, prepared no less by a Spanish chef. It was bountiful with the flavor of the meat, seafood and sauce. I was glad to finally try it and I really have to give it the thumbs up!
I really liked the styling at Cucina even though it’s not as big (and confusing) as some of the other buffets in the metro. It’s easy to navigate, the dishes are easy to spot and there’s enough variety to stuff yourself full, if you want to. This was the salad bar…
There was a wide array of Filipino dishes when we dined. I also saw Indian curries, the sushi/sashimi counter, Chinese food like noodles, Italian pastas and the grill station….
Dessert choices were a-plenty –
Before we knew it, my daughter Dianne and I were fully satiated.
But not without trying out the hotel’s Davao Sling to celebrate the Duterte victory. It’s one of those rare times when I’ve had a cocktail in the afternoon and I liked it. Change is coming, haha.
