Strolling around SM Aura last Saturday, I was happy to find that Vom Fass has opened on the second floor. It is a Germany-based specialty store selling artisanal oils as well as the finest wines, liqueurs, spirits and vinegars which they produce on their own or get from premium suppliers around the world.
Knowing how difficult it is to sometimes source high-quality products in Manila, this place is a gourmet lovers’ delight! (..and the prices aren’t bad too)
I like the whole idea of Vom Fass being a filling station. All I have to do is buy a glass bottle from them (average price of P100), fill it with Latte Machiato for instance and bring the bottle back to the store when I want to buy again.
So I bought white truffle oil which is “luxuriously” priced elsewhere. At Vom Fass, it only cost me P480 (P380 for 100 ml plus P100 for the bottle). And the salesgirl even got to personalize it with her handwriting.
The containers displaying a wide variety of colorful liqueurs were what attracted me at first (think amaretto… limoncino…pina colada…sour cherry!) And the best part is: you can taste each one.

Their selection of balsamic vinegars was amazing…there were close to 25 kinds on display (priced from 55 to 770 PHP per 100 ml). The house recommended one of their most expensive, the Aceto Balsamico Maletti which when paired with the white truffle oil (for dipping on bread, among other uses) tasted exquisite.
Spotted: the calamansi vinegar presumably exported from the Philippines.It has a tart-acidic aroma and is recommended for salad dressings and sauces. (note: also available is the mango vinegar)
Ready-made bottled wines for those special occasions are available too – from everyday reds to highly-rated Bordeaux wines coming from France, Italy, South Africa and other top producers.
But I guess most of us would prefer to get our own bottles at the shop because we can choose from the most conventional to the playful 😉
They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but I will judge how tasteful a person is if I receive something like this for Christmas (ehermmmm….LOL)

How is their Truffle Oil?
I want to bring my own bottle, but they refused to fill it up. I really need to buy their bottle daw, but I didn’t see any that I liked! Hihi..

Didi, 100 pesos lang naman ang bottle, hahaha. Truffle oil was good..try before you buy 😉
Hi Ro, try the truffle oil or any of the balsamic vinegars (they have fruity ones) for your salads…also the argan oil for beautification, hehe
