Just in case you were wondering, these are the ceiling lamps at the Krua Thai Restaurant along the SM Megamall Megastrip. I thought they looked so nice and so I couldn’t resist taking a picture of them with the new Nokia 6230i I am testing now. At 1.3 megapixels, this nifty cellphone’s camera is good enough..not to mention its crisp-sounding radio and MP3 player which are momentarily diverting me from my intense LUST for an iPod at the moment.
Funny but we went to Krua Thai to drink only coffee, which means we did not get to sample their food. The prices on the menu seemed very reasonable though and so I should remember to try them next time.
Who was I with? Who else but the Blogkadas again! This must be the third time I am meeting them in groups this year and it’s always fun. It’s supposed to be momentous because it’s our first time to meet the California-based Ate Sienna (a.k.a. Gigi Manaloto, the big sister of Smokey) and Mrs. P (otherwise known as the former beauty queen Lampel Luis). The picture from our group meet is found on the Flickr badge of this blog.
*** To all my readers, it’s not yet too late to read my Blog-o-Rama column on blogging in education featuring two great educators — Tito Rolly, the ultra-talented artist from De La Zobel School; and Marisol Angala, a Filipina who’s now based in Washington D. C. as a special education teacher. This writer thinks blogging is the next big thing to hit academia and considering that it encourages students to develop their writing skills, critical thinking and creativity… we daresay, why not??
*** Also watched The Interpreter starring Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman. Nice movie, especially in light of the fact that I only get to watch movies every three months! Maybe we should do a Filipino version featuring the victims of the Marcos dictatorship.
*** Was shocked to learn about the death of former Phivolcs chief Dr. Raymundo Punongbayan. Dr. P was personally known to me, having covered him when I was still toiling in the science beat. My fondest memory of him was when we climbed Taal Volcano together.Needless to say, he was one of a few government officials I truly respected..incorruptible and possessing of unquestioned competence in his field. His daughter has been quoted as saying he died a poor man, living in the same apartment for years. If only every civil servant could be like him. Let us offer prayers and mourn the loss of such a great Filipino.
*** Yahoo Mail’s 1 GB service is hot off the press.Well of course Gmail did it first. The growing competition can only be better for all net users.
