As a blogger and as a writer who writes about bloggers, I simply had to attend the 2nd Philippine Blogging Summit (iBlog2) in faraway UP Diliman Quezon City today. I didn’t regret it one bit, as I was able to see some of my online friends and discover new ones.Too bad I wasn’t able to linger much as I was too worried about the traffic going home (it was past 5 p.m. already and the affair wasn’t finished yet). Photo shows some of the bloggers I saw: columnist Dean Bocobo, Atty. Marvin Aceron, lawyer Punzi, Mike Villar of The Man Blog and RonAllan.
The moment I entered, I saw long-time friend and former government functionary Toots Ople who loves writing so much that she’s deep into blogging now.We wish her the best of luck as well as the others who are just starting. Blogging is especially recommended if you want a great way to spend your time as well as tone down impulsive shopping & other unnecessary stuff, hehe.
It’s a shame that I wasn’t able to attend all of the sessions. The topics were very interesting but were held simultaneously; hence, I needed two bodies or at least an assistant to be able to cover everything *grin. But I simply couldn’t miss the talk of Manuel Viloria on podcasting which is one of those innovative blogging technologies to get into. As a speaker, Manuel was very lively and engaging which made us all the more curious about the whole podcasting thing. Good work, Mr. Viloria!
This photo shows the three gentlemen I earlier featured on Blog-O-Rama (from left) Marc Macalua, Jangelo Racoma and Blog Overlord Abe “Yuga” Olandres who is earning so much (!!!) that I wish I had even half of his tech talent. The only rose among the thorns, Charo “The Geekette” Nuguid, also gave an animated talk on Blog Metrics/tracking your blog’s performance.
Other bloggers I saw: The Manolo Quezon, Jove Francisco, Clair Ching, Prof. JJ Disini, Janette Toral and some others. If I missed you, please just kindly introduce yourself here.
Drinks like coffee freely flowed and there was food to fill everyone up. The speakers were good and am sure everyone had a lot to learn from the intelligent and informative discussions. Kudos to the UP College of Law Internet & Society Program. I was said to have missed the first iBlog but I was certainly glad to have dropped by this time around. More power to all Pinoy bloggers…cheers!

Nice to have met you too…

We should do this more often. 🙂

Hello Annalyn. Great to meet you and thanks for the coverage. I’m sure this will give great info to those who did not made it. =)
Manuel Viloria says
It was so good to see you, Ajay!
I hope the traffic wasn’t too bad on the way back home. Perhaps iBlog 3 will be held in Manila? 🙂

Hello, Ajay! Good coverage, as usual! I had fun at Iblog2 and felt immediately at home with fellow bloggers especially with you, Rissa, Manolo and Jove around. Learned a lot in one day about this hidden sphere of democratic engagement that is so alive and free! Kudos to the sponsors and organizers of this event.

hi ajay, nice coverage on the iblog2. i was thinking of attending kaya lang there’s work. saka i’m kinda shy, di naman popular ang aking blog. it would have been a surreal experience, meeting the people behind the blogs i read. oh. well, there’s next year i guess. 🙂
Marc Macalua says
Hi Ajay! Finally!!! 😉
cris says

everyone says the same thing about not being able to attend everything… i feel the same way, like i got lots more than i expected, but being an information glutton, i wanted it all. heh heh
here’s looking forward to how it goes on iBlog 3, i guess. 😀
jangelo says
Great to see you there, Annalyn!

Hei Ju,,,
Great way of socializing!
Take care… hey, even if I do not comment sometimes, I still come by and read your blog.

i bet it was fun! pero, question: did it feel weird seeing them in person? is it like seeing a long-time email partner for the first time and you sort of painted a picture of them but when you meet them, you sort of cant match the picture you painted in your mind and them in the flesh?
ajay says
Hi Jher! It’s not really a question of popularity; in fact I would avoid a blogsnob if I saw one, haha. I was simply excited to see all the bloggers and learn all I can from this avocation. It’s a good networking tool though. You shouldn’t miss the next iBlog:smile:
Glad you liked your iBlog experience, Jester. Your report was very comprehensive indeed
Nice to see (and listen) to you too, Marc and Jangelo:smile:
AL!! Thanks for lurking around. Am currently relishing the salmon. Regards to the family.
Jerome, yes I think I heard somebody say it was surreal meeting the persons behind the blogs. I felt the opposite; they looked the same to me, albeit most appeared too serious:grin: I did hear some say I looked a bit different and Yuga said I look younger since the last time he saw me (dunno if he was pulling my leg) But yes, it’s good to see fellow bloggers; hope I could meet you and Jher someday too.
yuga says
Ajay, totoo yun. I’m not joking. 🙂
Manuel Viloria says
Yung mga mukhang serious, Ajay? Yun ang mga *lalong* nagandahan sa na-meet nila in person. I’m serious. 🙂
In person, some bloggers looked thinner; others, friendlier.
(Ajay looked all that. And taller, too.)
ajay says
Hi guys! Mukhang mutual admiration society na to:grin:
Thanks Yuga. Maybe it’s the antioxidant in my coffee or the fact na walang nagpapasakit ng ulo ko:grin: As for you, you look a nice kind of chubby…at least on the face. Maybe it’s a symbol of prosperity?
Thanks din Manuel. It was great seeing online friends like you. And I really liked your talk and the way you perked up your audience’s interest:smile:
