A few days ago, our band of bloggers was out of town again but this time it was different. It was a trip to discover our own mortality and how we should prepare for the reality of dying someday.
Morbid, you say? The serene surroundings of the sprawling Centennial Garden in Sta. Rosa, Laguna provided the perfect backdrop for thinking about the afterlife that day.
Inasmuch as we try to enjoy life while as much as we can, we should also endeavor to leave behind our earthly existence in the best way possible. And this was it….
Centennial Garden is poised to be the first necro-tourism site in the country with world-class facilities and amenities that sets the standard for other memorial parks to follow. It boasts of Greek-inspired architecture, CCTVs, landscaped pathways and even a spacious playground for kids to play in.
It also has an ecumenical chapel and the bone crypt called Olympus certainly looked stately enough. Most of the place was made of marble and had these beautiful falls and fountains….
It was already night time when we strolled through Centennial Garden and chanced upon this majestic castle. It was a tribute of loving parents to their daughter Hannah who died young.
Within Centennial Garden is the Phoenix Memorial and Crematory for honoring the just departed. Phoenix OIC Lhenn Jontongco revealed their facility boasts of high-end crematory machines from the United States. She also toured us around their hotel-like reception and lobby, the viewing chapels decorated with Swarovski-encased European chandeliers, movable partitions and a modern air purifying system that deodorizes the chapel.
According to Jontongco, services at Phoenix Memorial Chapel are highly personalized. Aside from piped in music for playing the favorite music of the deceased, they also introduced the personalized memorabilia concept that will remind the friends and relatives of the aspects of life of the departed.
“This is something that one usually sees in the wake of the rich and famous. But we believe that it is not something exclusive because rich or poor, famous or unknown, young or old, anyone one’s life has an effect on others in some way and that legacy needs to be treasured,” Jontongco explained.
Packages in Phoenix Memorial Chapel starts from P25,000. For inquiries, call (049) 534-1000 or 0918 911 1114.
