Like most people, I was one of those who wasn't pleased when our latest electricity bill arrived last December 2013. How can I.... our household usage remained the same but the rate increased to 20 percent compared to the previous month. Reason given was the increased charges imposed on Meralco by power generating companies as a result of the Malampaya shutdown. Whatever. Meralco to offer prepaid electricity soon
And we thought prepaid was only for mobile phones! It was quite a surprise hearing from the country's main electricity distributor Meralco that they will be offering prepaid kuryente soon (and that's hopefully before the end of the year!) The words are from Meralco VP and chief IT architect (aka CIO) Marthyn Cuan who explained that they will be catering to certain market segments in need of prepaid service.
