The Hong Kong Legislative Council passed a resolution last week seeking to impose sanctions on the Philippines for its failure to apologize and compensate victims of the 2010 Manila bus hostage crisis. And one of the threats being dangled was the revocation of Filipinos' visa-free access to HK. The timing couldn't be better as the warnings were made just as super typhoon Yolanda beat down on the Visayas with full force. It left a rather bad taste in the mouth. For most of us in Manila, the common reaction was: "who the hell cares? We will go to Bangkok, or ... Continue Reading...
Big Buddha + Ngong Ping cable car HK
I love it that everything runs smoothly in Hong Kong. After the hardship of going up, going down the mountain could only get better with well-paved trails and signs. The descent also got me closer to looking at the Big Buddha or the Tian Tian Buddha which I only got to admire from the postcards and pictures in the past. Snapshots: Hong Kong Flower Show 2013
It was a great time to be in Hong Kong last weekend. Weather was cool and balmy. Am not always in HK but it's refreshing to be here because it's so vibrant (in fact, a city that never sleeps!), is a melting pot of cultures and everything runs with great precision. Of course, there's great food and shopping in every corner :) Am glad some friends sounded me out about the 2013 Hong Kong Flower Show which is ongoing until March 24 at the Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. This is an annual event organized to promote the cultivation of flowers and greening in the ... Continue Reading...
