I think there was a look of shock from my blogger-friends when I showed up in the doorsteps of private dining resto Pio’s Kitchen that night. Considering the unbearable traffic in Metro Manila now, you’d think going South to North (and vice versa) is the equivalent of crossing the Rubicon or finishing a triathlon. It takes that much willpower and motivation to venture anywhere far these days!
But people like me will always be guilty of going through great lengths to try a new restaurant and taste good food. Bonus if it’s “all of the above.” This is what happened that night when we tried the irresistible fare at Pio’s Kitchen and learned the mantra: everything that’s good takes time!
Corned beef is my comfort food and guilty pleasure. And for fellow moms who go on frequent grocery trips, I happily recommend the new Swift Premium Corned Beef. It takes pride in being beefy, less greasy and slow-cooked to perfection.
Pio’s Kitchen owner and chef Chin Gallegos-Bagis levelled up the Swift product with her own version: t was served in the style of ‘pulled corned beef’ with some delicious cheese, thenperfectly paired with these crunchy wheat pita chips and jicama salsa.
There were two kinds of paella served: the paella valenciana and paella negra. They were darn good..definitely one of the best in the city.
The baked salmon with lemon butter caper sauce was delish. I may find it hard to be a vegetarian, but I will always love fish 🙂
Call this lechon or call this tarragon pork belly. Just the same, it was sinfully good!
Roast chicken Iberico with roasted baby potatoes…I came back for seconds.
Beef tenderloin salpicao…
I think the salad bar looked lonely because most of us went straight for the mains…
Thankfully, the charming server came to the rescue with a pot of hot tea to wash it all down.
