Yes I know, it’s Valentine’s soon and at least three of these things will be in demand: flowers, chocolates and expensive wine dinners.
The new Bacon Bar by Machiavelli Chocolatier was something I simply had to have while passing through Essenses in Rustan’s Makati recently. It seems that after combining all sorts of exotic things with chocolates, bacon is now the “it” ingredient. I can’t complain… there is just something about the crispiness and saltiness of bacon that is irresistible when combined with our favorite sweet treat.
The bacon bar was kinda pricey at P150 for a 30-gram chocolate bar, but I found myself munching on every bit, quite disbelieving that there was none left in the wrapper. I wanted more but I’ll stick with my rating: this bar is worth trying at least once!
What will our retailers think of next……bacon with ice cream? 😀
Way back, I thought Machiavelli was an imported brand since it was in Rustans until I saw the Asian-inspired pralines that they had for sale in the counter…. Yema de Manila, Purple Yam Yum (or Ube) and Thai Caramel, to name just a few. I like the classic Grand Marnier and will keep a watch on this chocolatier for more of their exciting offerings. Check it out!

Zee, I remember the first thing I tried was Happy Bacon of Erica Paredes.
Bacon + Chocolate = two sinful treats but certainly worth the extra calories 😀
Ganns…. ugh. Bacon ice cream…..I certainly missed that!!!
