Shamcey Supsup is back in the Philippines, says she won’t join showbiz

Former journ colleague Raoul took this photo of Shamcey Supsup at the NAIA earlier today, still looking fresh even after the 14 hour or so trip from L.A. (and Brazil is even farther)

Even though she just placed third runner-up in Miss Universe 2011, Shamcey will still be given a heroine’s welcome by her proud countrymen. She will be leading a motorcade later (Monday) that will take her to her familiar places like UP Diliman, Makati High School and Cainta, Rizal. On Tuesday, she will fly to her hometown of General Santos City and the crowds are expected to loom even larger.

Despite her new celebrity status, Shamcey has intimated that she will not join showbiz and will accept only the occasional hosting jobs. The beauty queen and board topnotcher revealed that she plans to take up her master’s in architecture in the United Kingdom.

Thanks to Facebook (and Google!) we were able to get a glam photo of Shamcey’s model-boyfriend Lloyd Lee. The pair has just been on for a few months but we think the good guy is a good match for Mademoiselle Supsup since he appears to be well-travelled and comes from a big business family. He also looks like an actor from our fave Korean telenovela, don’t you think? 😀

Anyway, we enjoyed Boy Abunda’s interview with Shamcey yesterday in the Buzz, especially the part where she was given the questions asked of other Miss Universe finalists.

Channeling Miss Angola, she said if there was one physical characteristic she would change about herself, it would be her feet since it’s big (she was kidding, of course)

And if she was to relive the life of one character in history, it would be Jose Rizal. He didn’t mind the thought of dying because he knew it was for the country, Shamcey said.

What did she think of Lea Salonga placing her only second? “I respect her decision and it should be respected because it’s part of her work as a judge.”

Even though I don’t watch local TV much, I enjoyed the interview with Shamcey. She was as articulate as much as she was beautiful.
