MSS has promised to give me a new cellphone for Christmas and in the meantime I've been busy scouring the shops to fit the $200 budget. Cellphones are quite expensive to have - the good ones would fall within the $300 to $500 price range - yet it's amazing how people would splurge their entire bonuses on these gadgets. The wise among us would surely find this appalling (as opposed to appealing, hehe) A money-conscious geek like would rather invest in jewelry which appreciates over time than a spanking new mobile phone which depreciates after two months (!!!! - note ... A Smokey Mountain homecoming
waving It has been 15 years since I last visited Smokey Mountain. As an aspiring journalist who was still in college, I went here to write stories about people living and getting their sustenance from the dump, families who actually rummaged the garbage for their day's food. The grim images of the mountain would not leave me for years. On my 700th hit, I decided to tell people close (and closed) to my heart about this blog. That's after I decided that it was presentable enough to be viewed by the world. As expected, my friends had mixed reactions about the whole thing. "Hey Ju, thanks for the invite. Was reading some of your postings a while ago. You're such a compulsive writer," Lei wrote from New York. I have to admit this description intrigued me.But then, Lei always had this talent for brilliant ambiguity. Prior to this, I didn't think my writing ability was capable of being defined in the order ... Continue Reading...
