The Samsung Cook Off was one fun and educational event I attended in the past week. This was the culminating activity of a recipe challenge I launched in this blog a weeks ago. My winner and two other winners of the Samsung Smart Oven from other blogs met at the GalaStars Culinary School in Pasig for the final countdown.
Here’s my contestant, editor Lorraine Lorenzo. I chose her recipe for Thai Chicken Nuggets in Red Curry Sauce because it looked delish and she used all natural ingredients, no shortcuts in making the dish.
Lorraine’s also a mom and it’s worth noting that she adopted the recipe as an alternative for her school-age son who normally goes for fried chicken. This was yummy…the only thing missing was the rice…and some red hot chili peppers! 🙂
The participants were given one hour max to prepare their dishes under the watchful eye of the board of judges led by Chef Ernest Reynoso Gala.
Vic Ejanda represented Animetric’s World and prepared Roasted Chicken in Basil and Lemongrass.
Roki Ferrer, a manager at Globe Telecoms represented Kelly Misa’s blog.
His Chicken Tagine with Couscous was the big winner. I have to agree it was exquisite, a perfect melding of sophisticated flavors coming from the spices, potatoes, pimientoes, prunes and some other. Making this at home beats dining out anytime. (Photo from Roki’s dkitchenbitchen.blogspot.com)
Anyhow, this was an intimate event but I never saw so many cameras focused…on us! Feeling celebrity tuloy. LOL. Am excited to watch the cookoff’s telecast at the Lifestyle Network soon.
Kelly, me and Rowena.
Thank you Samsung for letting this blog take part in your cook-off. We had a great time! The last part of the program was Samsung’s beauteous Katrina Lee explaining the features of the RT6000 ref – a household must-have for its all-around cooling, space efficiency, and digital compressor technology – among other features. Too bad we didn’t get to bring home this ref for the grand prize, but everybody was happy with the Samsung Smart Oven 😉
Until the next kitchen showdown!
