Staying NEAR Hong Kong Disneyland is one cost-friendly option that tourists can consider when visiting the theme park. That’s right. You don’t have to stay in Disneyland because the room only package was quite pricey the last time I looked.
We have also stayed in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel years back and it was time to consider a new experience. My internet surfing led me to the website of Regal Airport Hotel and I was glad to stumble upon their Disneyland room package which I thought was good value.
For as low as HKD$2288 for a superior room, the package already gives you:
– one night accommodation
– breakfast buffet at Cafe Aficionado (their coffeeshop) for 2 adults & one child
– 1 day Hong Kong Disneyland General Admission Tickets for 2 adults (aged 12-64)
– Complimentary shuttle bus service to and from Hong Kong Disneyland
– Complimentary one parking space or scheduled hotel shuttle service to downtown
(Note: The 5 star Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel also offers a Disneyland package for HKD$2250)
I booked at Regal for two nights with the first night costing HKD$980 ( no breakfast included). We got a deluxe room that was quite big for HK standards since it fit two queen-sized beds and they were very comfortable.
There were also two armchairs and the hotel also gave a welcome fruit platter.
By the side were the work desk, flat screen TV, closet and the usual amenities….
The bath tub combined with a shower…
Props to my friend Shalimar for visiting me in the hotel on our first night. With the way she travels, what a lucky coincidence it is that we’d find ourselves in one place (that’s chilly Hong Kong) for the weekend!
First impressions: the Regal Airport Hotel is quite massive with 1,171 rooms and navigating the property can be quite difficult for a first-timer. Good thing there were Filipino officers on duty and you can spot them because they have the Philippine flag pinned on their jackets 🙂
Here was part of the lobby…
And this is the indoor heated pool. Too bad renovations were ongoing and the kiddie pool wasn’t ready. They also have a sauna and a spa.
The gym had a fair number of equipment…
Lucia loved the playground, especially the Kiddie Wonderland at the basement. The only thing was that no other kids were present at the time of our visit, lol.
The breakfast buffet at Cafe Aficionado didn’t disappoint. Just be careful when the hotel is full of convention guests and all of humanity swoops down on the food. It might be worth it to come down for breakfast on another hour.
Anyway, here’s the view from our room which consisted of the car park and the first airport terminal. For an extra HKD$350, you can upgrade to quarters with a view of the runway but I was too much of a Scrooge to bother with that 🙂
The most fascinating thing really is that the hotel is connected by a mere walkway from terminal 1 of the Hong Kong International Airport.
Here’s a view of the hotel from Terminal 1….
When you are in the HKIA Arrival Hall, just turn left and the arrow will point you to Regal Airport Hotel…
Here’s the connecting bridge. You can walk from Terminal 1 to the hotel (and vice versa) in 5 minutes. No need for a shuttle.
So when the kids got hungry,it was quite convenient to just go to McDonalds or eat in any of the airport restaurants…
As for the HK Disneyland package, everything was smooth and hassle-free on the day that we were scheduled to visit. We just went to the hotel Concierge counter and they checked my name on the computer as a guest who availed of the package. The staffer Leo then issued our tickets and some free souvenirs like bag tags and a pin…
We were told of the times for the shuttle pick-up to and from Disneyland and this bus took us to the theme park in about 15 minutes….
Am so glad everything went without a hitch and Lucia was able to have a photo op with Tinker Bell in due time….
The Regal Hotel’s airport location is a bit out of orbit when you’re visiting HK for eating & shopping but certainly advantageous when you are a departing passenger or having a layover. I also liked the room and the kid-friendly facilities so I will not hesitate to stay here again for a family trip….whether there’s Disneyland in the itinerary or not.
