A few weeks ago, I was glad to discover and explore Jinjiang Inn – the newest hotel chain to conquer Manila’s fast-growing tourism scene. Jinjiang Inn happens to be China’s largest hospitality conglomerate and this brand has been franchised in the Philippines via billionaire Injap Sia’s Hotel of Asia Inc.
Jinjiang Inn Philippines is positioned to be a business hotel where the location and in-room amenities are both meant to be ultra-convenient.I’ve had the pleasure of being a sponsored guest at Jinjiang Inn Ortigas and a paying customer at Jinjiang Inn Makati on separate occasions and here’s my review….
First stop: Jinjiang Inn Ortigas located in San Miguel Avenue corner Lourdes Drive. Equipped with 95 rooms, the hotel is right smack in the business district where everything is a walk away … the malls like Shang-ri La Plaza and a plethora of restaurants.
Befitting its business hotel status, the lobby is small and neat. I also noticed that in any Jinjiang Inn, there are always computer monitors on the ground floor from where guests can freely access the internet.
I was booked in their standard business room which had a queen-sized bed and a street view. Approximate size is 23 square meters. It was basic but comfortable and everything was working properly.
All of the rooms have wi-fi, personal safe, minibar, electric kettle and 46-inch flat screen LED TV
Even though the room was small, the en suite bathroom did not scrimp on space. It even had bathrobes, a hair dryer and of course, free toiletries.
Breakfast at Jinjiang Inn Ortigas is made possible through the Five Spice Asian Bistro on the ground floor. Don’t miss this if you like a bowl of congee, fried rice or Chinese noodles to rev up your morning.
My second time to try Jinjiang Inn was at their Arnaiz Avenue branch. It’s a cozy four-storey building of only 59 rooms that is quite a gem in the business district of Makati City. The building is very new , location is topnotch and you get a boutique hotel sophistication without paying the higher prices of the five-star chains nearby.
Here’s a look at the suites of Jinjiang Inn Makati. Love the spacious bathroom and the Japanese-style sliding doors and windows concept.
This was the Business Twin Room sized at 26 square meters. This was ideally made for two business travellers sharing a room. I’ve noted the absence of table side lamps in the Jinjiang Inn hotels, perhaps as a space-saving trick. One just has to flick buttons and sections of the walls light up, depending on where you want it to be.
But I prefer the Business King Room. It was quite amazing how this room faced the busy street but with hardly any noise of the cars below. Maybe because the owners took the pains in installing double glass windows.
The mini-bar treats like soda, juices and Oishi goodies are super affordable. In fact, priced the same as the convenience store. No need to head down to Circle K downstairs if you get midnight snack cravings. But since this is a Chinese chain, there’s no free coffee packets, only tea.
Guests can enjoy their meals at the popular Choi Garden on the ground floor. Best to clarify your room’s free breakfast privilege since the resto manager tends to audit your presence like a hawk, lol. Lunch and dinner at Choi Garden are highly recommended for their delicious Chinese specialties. We don’t have to go to their main branch in Greenhills.
I would stay again in Jinjiang Inn Ortigas if I had some business there and in Jinjiang Inn Makati if I wanted to savor a comfy haven just a walking distance away from Greenbelt, Glorietta and the rest of ’em.
Since the Makati branch is fairly new, we encountered mix-ups like the laundry being delivered wrongly, the hot water not working and the wi-fi being too weak in the rooms. These are things we hope the hotel management addresses soon as they embark on their normal operations after their soft opening.
