Xiaomi is unveiling Redmi 2,the much-awaited successor to its affordable smartphone Redmi 1S, starting April 28 As always, it will be sold exclusively online via lazada.com.ph at an introductory price of P5,999.
Checking the specs, there’s really no radical departure from the Redmi 1S except that th new phone model is lighter at 133 grams (from the old 158 g.) It’s thinner too at 9.44 mm from the previous 9.9 mm.
Except for this difference in dimensions, Redmi 2 still sports the same 4.7-inch screen display, 8gb flash drive and dual SIM capacity.Rear camera resolution remains at 8mp although the front-facing cam has improved a tad at 2mp.
Redmi 2 also runs on the same quad core QualComm processor although there’s a slight upgrade to 410 CPU with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB RAM. Battery power has also improved to 2200 mAh, from the previous mAh.
Last but not least, the operating system will be Android KitKat with MIUI 6. Of course, users will have access to 10GB of back-up storage via Mi cloud, not to mention built-in tools like WPS Office, clock, compass, recorder and even a flashlight.
