Board games are alive! It’s been ages since the family played chess and Monopoly, and my favorite Scrabble. As a mom, I should be ashamed for not weaning my kids away from the iPad and all those computer games. There’s really nothing like the board games to promote interaction, live excitement, strategy, logical reasoning and all the good stuff.
Gladly, there’s now an exclusive Board Game Lounge near where we live in the South and it’s aptly called Puzzles. My lovely niece Arisa introduced me to this place because her bf, Roby, is one of the owners (they’re all young,by the way). One look at this hangout and it just warmed up to me. It’s so cool!
You wouldn’t blame families or groups of friends if they’d like to chill out here for hours on end. Each person only has to pay P100 and they can play as long as they want.
Puzzles has a whopping collection of 150 board games, a number of which are not available locally. In-house coaches (in most cases, the owners) are on hand to teach the rudiments of the game for those who aren’t familiar. My toddler Lucia had an introduction to the popular block-stacking game Jenga. But Roby said a child has to be at least 8 eight years old to appreciate this game.
So we ended up with another distraction and it was equally fun! 🙂
These are some of the most in-demand games being played at Puzzles: Pandemic, Cards Against Humanity, The King of Tokyo and Settlers of Catan.
There are more selections in the shelves that adorn this cozy space. We did say 150 games are available!
The menu is still being finalized. We munched on the classic Peanut Butter & Jelly Panini (P130) and the Fried Oreos (also P130) which was fantastico. The house recommends their milkshakes and artisan coffee (sourced from Magnum Opus) but it was a bit on the expensive side.
Anyway, if you live in the South of Manila or is an avid board game aficionado, do check this place out. It’s a fun, extraordinary way to spend a week night or a weekend afternoon. And best of all, it’s family-friendly! My girls certainly had fun 😉
