Cooking moms will be glad to know that Purefoods now has a Premiere Deli Club offering premium franks and cold cuts that were once only available in upscale (read: expensively-priced) delicatessens. The good thing is that the premium items are now sold in your friendly supermarkets nationwide, making the products like bologna, German franks and even smoked turkey franks more accessible than ever.
We had a glimpse of the many ways you can do magic with processed meat during a launch event at Chef Jessie located at the Rockwell Club last week. For example, you can mix and match the franks with fruits and veggies for a flavorful, healthier alternative.
Noted chef Jessie Sincioco collaborated with certain celebrities to come up with the appetizing dishes. The recipe for spicy ham wraps in tamarind vinaigrette dressing contributed by model Kelly Misa was a winner! It made me look at a salad in a different light 😀
Another of my favorites was the monggo soup concocted by mom of five Christine Jacob-Sandejas infused with thin slices of cheese franks. (Recipe here) It was yummy!
When you’re running out of a fancy topping for your pasta, take out your bottled pesto and pack of salami, thinly slice the latter, top with shaved parmesan and voila! you have an instant fancy meal. This was the contribution of society lady Tessa Prieto-Valdes.

The other dishes presented were the German franks with spicy barbecue sauce by Rovilson Fernandez and the beef franks risotto by chef China – all equally delicious.
And the perfect meal-ender was Chef Jessie’s baked fruit tart topped with bologna slices that were fried to a crisp. The flawless execution makes Chef Jessie one of the top Filipino chefs in Manila indeed, and worthy of a restaurant in her name.
