A big fan moment with President-elect Noynoy Aquino (P-Noy for short).I am certainly happy to have this picture taken with him, a week before he takes his oath as the 15th President of the Republic. While the marital troubles of sister Kris and her husband James Yap was in the news, bachelor Noy was calmly eating delicious shabu-shabu at the Podium mall, relishing perhaps his final few days of normalcy and privacy.
But privacy, perhaps, is elusive if ordinary Juanas like me run after pictures with him.If you’ve been reading this blog, he was really the only presidential candidate I wrote about and rooted for in the last elections. And that is why I appeared “star-struck,” as the husband would say. And all I could really say to him in person was “Congratulations, Mr. President.” 😀
Truth was, we were already eating for close to an hour in Healthy Shabu-Shabu when hubby pointed out to me a little commotion taking place. Some diners were having their picture taken with P-Noy. Turns out he was just a few tables away from us, having a dinner-meeting. No big entourage obviously. I was quite busy sharing hubby’s soup and picking on my angus beef fried rice, where the rice wasn’t well-cooked . We agreed that our fave joint, Mini Shabu Shabu in Pan Pacific Manila, was better. But Healthy Shabu Shabu’s manager made up for it by being accommodating – giving us a 10% discount, offering free dessert and offering to replace the whole fried rice. And no, she didn’t know I was a blogger.
We love shabu-shabu. And P-Noy certainly looked like he can put on a few pounds and have a good bowl of it himself 😀

Wow, that’s a great pic of President Noynoy and you. Where are his security guards?

Thanks Bert. As I said, it wasn’t a big entourage..like a couple of security men only. One of them volunteered to take our picture 😀
