Vietnam is also home to the world’s largest cave which was uncovered in 1991 in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, situated near the country’s border with Laos. It is unbelievably long, measuring more than 5km and has stalagmites measuring as much as 70m, no wonder it is known as ‘The Great Wall of Vietnam’.
The cave is free for travellers to explore, but be warned the trek can be dangerous so be sure to follow the guide’s instructions carefully.
