I found refreshing this Editorial from Pasa'Yo, a newspaper which will be distributed for free in major commuter routes in Metro Manila starting this month. It is a private sector initiative to spread the good news about the country for a change. The proponents believe that we've had enough of the bad news and sensational stories; all that bitching, blaming and criticizing will only have the effect of further pulling ourselves down. Being a nationalistic chick, I believe that there's no better time in our history to be pro-Philippines and to hope that we can rise like ... Continue Reading...
The Boyfriend’s Arm…. Pillow!
boypillowThe Japanese - who have a penchant for inventing everything - have come up with the Boyfriend's Arm Pillow. It consists of a headless torso and a stuffed arm that curls around the sleeper for comfort during lonely nights.I think I'd like to have this pillow, and not because am desperate. On the contrary, this pillow would be lucky to have my naked body wrapped around it every night. I am tired of Felix the Cat already. The Boyfriend's Arm Pillow will be a good companion since it doesn't snore, doesn't squirm and will not make me pregnant just in case it is ... Continue Reading...
A tragic loss
Nini tagged me along last night to the wake of her former staffer, Jose Luis Villanueva, who was senselessly killed in a cellphone robbery incident on a travelling bus along EDSA Friday night. Jose was only 29 years old, a handsome young man who left a sheltered upbringing to pursue his dream of becoming a journalist. The eldest among nine children of multi-millionaire parents, he was educated in New York's Fordham U but chose to absorb himself in Manila's rough-and-tumble media world. He could have chosen to live on their mansion but as his friends would say, Jose ... Continue Reading...

It is so nice to be writing this blog from Boracay and being able to announce to my readership that I am now enjoying the good life in this little piece of island paradise south of the Philippines. And so....the definitive statement is: am a Bora virgin... no more! Though I have seen the nudist beaches of Europe and grew up in a house by the sea in my hometown which is now also known as a sought-after diving destination in the Philippines, Boracay is still a dream come true for me. Heaven is when the blue sky meets the green sea amid a fascinating backdrop of sailboats ... Continue Reading...
An Enchanted Day
Me & the twins at Bleeker St. Photography, EK .Last Sunday, I brought the kids to Enchanted Kingdom which is the Philippines own mini-version of Disneyland (minus Mickey & the gang). My best friend couldn't believe that I didn't bring the nanny along. But I was in the Extra Challenge mode. Nannies are sometimes a burden because you have pay extra for the entrance (and at Enchanted, this was not cheap). Besides, nannies do act more brattish than the wards they are supposed to look after. And so I was wondering if I could survive the day with three hyperactive tots. I ... Continue Reading...
