DSC00830. Like most remote islands in the Philippines, it is hard to fly to Batanes on a budget. The Sweetheart paid $450 $425 for each of us on three-day, two night package tour arranged by a travel agency. Of course you know what happened after that - our three days became nine days which posed a challenge to our budget, considering that no credit cards were accepted and there were only government ATMs on the island. I figure that what makes travelling to Batanes expensive is the airfare, which stands at something like $250 to $300 for a return ... Continue Reading...
Batanes Islands: beyond words…
Batanes. So what they say is true.... Batanes does not look like our usual islands, even though it's part of our islands and homeland just more pristine, and well, breathtaking. Batanes beach. Reaching here, miles away from home.... Batanes seemed like another world, if you knew what 'another world' means - no phone calls, no deadlines, no texts; no honking, no cursing, no madly crossing the streets; no coffee shop chic or Wi-fi fix; no counting the hours, or rushing through crowds.... just being with ... Apple’s iPod Touch : the Z review
iPod Touch from My Sweet 2 Note: These two successive posts on the iPod Touch are part of my Blog-O-rama column last Monday entitled "She Says, He says on the iPod Touch ." MR. The hardest part in selecting an iPod Touch was choosing a size, and an inscription. Some selfish part of me couldn’t let you have ... Continue Reading...
So loving… the iPod Touch…from My Sweet!
iPod Touch from My Sweet (Adapted from Blog-O-Rama) The last iPod I had was the Mini, so you can just imagine the excitement I had when I got the 16 GB iPod Touch from my Sweetheart for a gift last New Year's. It was an elegant black box with the picture of John Lennon in it. Inside was one of the most beautiful machines I've held in a long time, black with chrome glass in front and a mirror-like silver at the back. Most of all, My Sweet had the words "Please keep me close to you.." especially inscribed at the back which all the more took my breath ... Continue Reading...
Only in Batanes…. the Honesty Coffee Shop
The coffee shop that honesty built. Honesty2. This is one coffee shop where no one mans the store. Softdrinks, instant coffee, candies, biscuits, noodles, chips and other snacks on sale. Write what you bought on a notebook and deposit your payment in a makeshift drop box. No change allowed. It is so-called because this place expects your total honesty. I was tempted to pay for more than what I got. I felt like Papa Jesus was behind me :P Nice tourism pitch actually. If the government put up more stores like this, then ... Continue Reading...
