Going to spas and getting a massage was the one precious thing I had to give up for the past six months that I've been pregnant. It was for the simple reason that none of the regular therapists wanted to touch me. Most of them thought that I was in such a delicate stage to be kneaded and rubbed thoughtfully. One time, I even tried to Google "pregnancy massage in the Philippines" just to know my chances, and a few names came up. I began to understand that this type of massage needs some type of training on those who performed it. It was probably heaven-sent that we ... Continue Reading...
Grendha shoes and slip-ons to love at Bambu store, Glorietta
We attended the opening of the new Bambu store in Glorietta 4 last week, and we thought having four young girls cut the ceremonial ribbon was such a cute idea. (they were nieces/relatives of Bambu owner Patxi Elizalde) Bambu is a one-stop shop when you're looking for quality, fashionable Brazilian footwear, notably flip-flops which you can strut around the beach. Very apt since summer's almost here! The house carries such noted brands as Ipanema, Ipanema GB (which stands for supermodel Gisele Bundchen), Grendha and Rider sandals for men. They've also added ... Continue Reading...
The look of love, the look of Love Etc… by The Body Shop
God knows there's no other best time to feel BLAH than when you're pregnant. No salon agrees to color my hair (even though the grays are showing) and spas won't even give me my regular massage by reason of my swollen belly. My digitally-permed tresses have grown out and I can't have them straightened at this stage. Looks like everything has to wait until delivery! That's why I felt quite elated when publicist Char of Stratworks chose to invite me for a beauty event. It was the launch of the new Love Etc... line by The Body Shop in the runup to Valentine's Day. I ... Continue Reading...
Trying out KFC, a.k.a Korean fried chicken …
I have to blame the office folks for introducing me to the pleasures of KFC... no, not The KFC but Korean fried chicken. It is fried chicken I've tasted like no other, mostly because this doesn't use ketchup or gravy as an accompaniment. Trying it with sweet pickled radish is love. :D Another good reason to love this chicken. It's perfectly cooked, and doesn't have the oily taste. ... Continue Reading...
The French Corner, Alabang
Alabang is certainly far enough to go for fine dining if you don't live there. But eating at The French Corner has been one of my great gastronomic experiences lately that I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again. This resto prides itself of its "Creative Continental cuisine" crafted by noted gourmet chef Billy King. It is one of the mainstays in the cozy complex called the Westgate Center. The prices aren't to be scoffed at, and this is one of the places to go to when you want to impress your date - most especially because of the great service. It certainly ... Continue Reading...
