Staying NEAR Hong Kong Disneyland is one cost-friendly option that tourists can consider when visiting the theme park. That's right. You don't have to stay in Disneyland because the room only package was quite pricey the last time I looked. We have also stayed in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel years back and it was time to consider a new experience. My internet surfing led me to the website of Regal Airport Hotel and I was glad to stumble upon their Disneyland room package which I thought was good value. For as low as HKD$2288 for a superior room, the package already ... Continue Reading...
HK must-eats : Kam’s Roast Goose & Yat Lok
When in Hong Kong, I happily recommend going on a wild goose chase (pardon the pun) in any of the 1 star Michelin restaurants that serve, well....the famed roasted goose! One might argue that we have every imaginable franchise food chain in Manila but not these restos. Their locations are kinda out of the way (hence 'goose chase) but you can easily satisfy your tummy and tastebuds for less than HKD$100.Now who can argue with that? The first restaurant I tried a few years ago was Yat Lok over at Stanley St. in Central. The roasted goose was so juicy and flavorful ... Continue Reading...
Hong Kong Flower Show 2016
I enjoyed the Hong Kong Flower Show 2013 and it was a lucky coincidence that I am in HK again for the flower show's 2016 edition! Even better: the family was billeted in Causeway Bay which was just a short walk away from the show's venue in Victoria Park. Entrance to the HK Flower Show is HKD$14 while for kids it's only $7. The event is organized annually by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong and if you want to see this next year, make sure you are in the territory by second week of March. For 2016, the show runs until March 20. Can't ... Continue Reading...
Kapampangan adobo recipe from Chef Gene Gonzalez
Here's a belated post on the cooking demo conducted by noted chef and author Gene Gonzalez at The Maya Kitchen last February (announcement in this post). Even though am from the Visayas, Pampanga is one region whose cuisine I admire and I will not hesitate gaining a few pounds just feasting on their rich, tasty food. Anyway, adobo is the Philippines' national dish and there are hundreds of variations in these 7,107 islands, depending on where you come from. Chef Gene shared this Kapampangan recipe of adobo which is notable for not using soy sauce. It gets its deep ... Continue Reading...
Hennessy King of the Road’s truly Pinoy party!
The unveiling of Hennessy's King of the Road was one truly enjoyable party we attended last week. It had the right mix of food, drinks, people, music and even art. The King of the Road is none other than the iconic Filipino jeepney which zoom-zoomed right there in the event venue of the Shooting Gallery Yellow Studio in Makati. It's done in the classy Hennessy way of sleek matte black exteriors and gold details.... definitely not your ordinary jeepney. According to the Hennessy people, the King of the Road is a series of events that will celebrate Manila's ... Continue Reading...
