Last Saturday, I did something really fruitful because I attended the Barista 101 (coffee making) class at the Maya Kitchen in Makati City. Being a coffee lover, I can't tell you enough how thrilled I was to learn how coffee is prepared in a commercial setting, from operating the machine to making various kinds of coffee drinks. Among these are Americano, latte, cappuccino and mocha. Our able teacher Eric taught us how to operate an espresso machine and how to froth milk for adding to your coffee concoction. But he did also teach us about how to come up with coffee ... Continue Reading...
Dining with the best views of Makati at Flame Restaurant, Discovery Primea
There was an invite from Ogilvy Manila and the gracious folks of the five-star hotel Discovery Primea to try their newly-opened Flame Restaurant for lunch. It was in conflict with another schedule and I finally made it to dinner. What can I say...the ambiance, the grandeur of the place and the views of the Makati skyline from the 16th floor simply took my breath away! I highly recommend a visit to Flame Restaurant if you're rekindling an old flame, discovering a new flame or simply igniting a "fire," lol. Daytime is recommended for business lunch and evenings ... Allied Against Dengue focuses on prevention
'tis the rainy season and incidence of dengue fever, the mosquito-spread viral infection, is once again expected to rise. According to records, there were 200,415 cases in the Philippines in 2015 and the numbers are increasing. Should we be scared? I was certainly relieved to know this because I thought dengue ... Continue Reading...
Kidzania Manila Games 2016 until August 20
My youngest daughter Lucia had been to Kidzania Manila before during a field trip. She went there again last July 22 with me accompanying her this time. What can I say: I had a blast being there for the first time. Am amazed there's now a place in Manila that enables our children to role play or give them an idea how it is to work for a living. It's educational and so entertaining at the same time. I highly recommend a visit. At the entrance, we were strapped on with this high-tech bracelet. Parents like me will be 100% confident that we won't lose our kids ... Continue Reading...
Check out new Greenwich Bacon Crispy Thins!
At a catered party recently, a friend and I were talking about the food. And tactless old me pointed out: "Mas masarap pa lasagna ng Greenwich dito eh." Ok, I said that because am a Greenwich fan...not only of their lasagna but also their chicken and pizzas. Take note: am cutting down on fast food and I don't really go crazy for pizza but I always make an exception with Greenwich. They make yummy stuff. Am happy that they've rolled out a new product and it's called the Bacon Crispy Thins! The official press release describes it as a "one-of- a-kind limited ... Continue Reading...
