Can you imagine, we went to Thailand not being able to shop at all? I guess that’s what you get for staying in a resort that’s far from the madding crowd. But am not complaining. Especially as I saw my kids very happy and I got my much-needed relaxation with a capital R! 🙂
We were assigned this Mini Suite Sea View Plus room which was approximately 40 sq.m. but more than enough for us. There was a king-size bed but Dionne, my older daughter, preferred to sleep on the couch.
While the other rooms in the property had a mountain view, the best part was our balcony with this encompassing view of the Gulf of Thailand.
There was only a glass wall separating the bathroom from the bed, but thankfully, you can pull the blinds for privacy. The toilet had a tub and rain shower too.
The toiletries weren’t branded, but darn, they smelled good. Like most Pinoy travellers, I brought these home, lol.
One thing we indulged in during our stay were the leisurely breakfasts. The Royal Cliff Beach Hotel buffet had a lot of selections, even Indian specialties.
I remembered my dear gay friends when I saw this staff manning the Kanom Krok station. I wish they were in Pattaya because it’s an ‘exciting’ place and friendly to LGBTs. Anyway, the Kanom Krok or coconut pancakes were very delicious too. Couldn’t have enough of them. Try the cakes next time you’re in Thailand.
On the morning of our second day, Lucia was egging me to go to the beach and we enjoyed this scenery. The Pattaya landscape may not compare to the natural beauty we have in the Philippines, but I have to give them credit for the immaculate maintenance of the surroundings.
Anyway, here are the other things that made my stay at Royal Cliff memorable:
the Thai massage at the Cliff Spa of the adjoining property The Royal Cliff Grand Hotel which is designed for another type of luxury traveller –
The Saturday BBQ Buffet in the Lang Thorn Thai restaurant had kilometric selections of yummy meat and seafood, all meant to fulfill our tummy’s desire…yay!
As I found during this trip, Thailand hotels are cheaper and priced more competitively than the Philippines. Sad but true. The tariff rate for our Sea View room was only 8,250 baht (approximately 10,000 pesos). Whereas if this same topnotch five-star hotel was situated in Bohol, Davao or Boracay, the price would be more than double!
Check out the Royal Cliff Hotels group when you find yourself in the vicinity of Pattaya, Thailand…it’s highly recommended.
We stayed in the 474-room Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, but there’s also the Royal Cliff Beach Terrace, the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel and the Royal Wing Suites & Spa … all luxurious by any standard.
