For most people, reaching 50 is a milestone. My generation is approaching it faster than we think, and when the time comes, a big celebration is in order. Lelz.
Thankfully, with the health-conscious lifestyle of my contemporaries, approaching the 50s no longer paints such a doomsday picture. The 50s are the new 40s or even 30s, if you see it in the fit physiques of celebrities like Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Elle McPherson and the like. It’s not just how you look, but how you feel!
Locally, there are women in their 50s we look up to like socialite Tessa Prieto and singer-actress ZsaZsa Padilla. Tessa is into fitness and has ran numerous marathons. ZsaZsa has countless accomplishments in showbiz and only learned to drive when she was 51, proof that it’s never too late to start anything.
Here is Tessa and ZsaZsa with their daughters during the launch in Makati of Nestle Boost, the nutritional health drink for older adults.
Businesswoman Ruby Gan (shown here with her son Ralph is definitely a fitspiration. For the record, she joined her first bodybuilding competition at the ripe old age of 55.
My own photo with host Christine Jacob who is a hands-on mom to four kids and is happily 50. I remember Christine as the country’s swimming sensation back then.
Nestle Health Science developed the Boost range to supplement what may be lacking in the diets of adults 50 and up. Experts note that lifestyle, dietary habits, and metabolism often develop as a person ages and it is important to meet nutritional needs so older people can stay healthy and active.
