This tired, old lady seldom watches movies and so it was a welcome respite when Gigi and I decided to watch King Arthur after gulping down our strawberries & cream frapp at Starbucks.
The legend behind King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table will always fascinate me. It is one of conquest, bravery, chivalry and the follies of the human heart. Readers will always find interesting the love angle between Queen Guinevere and Lancelot but the King and his Knights are also identified with one of history’s greatest adventures, the quest for the Holy Grail (more on this soon in my notes to the much-ballyhooed Da Vinci Code.)
Some critics have thrashed “King Arthur” as a poor version of the “Gladiator.” We also agreed that Clive Owen lacked stage presence but what the heck, I liked the movie for its entertainment value. I wished my son watched it too so he can have another hero to identify with.
Until the next King Arthur saga…
