With three weeks to go before the holding of the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Grand Coronation night, reports are rife there’s a high chance that Miss Universe 2015 will be held in the Philippines. And our resounding reply is WHY NOT?? 🙂
Beauty watchers point to the following indicators on why there’s now 75% chance that Miss Universe will be held in Manila (or other tourism spots ike Cebu) next year:
1. No less than Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler is flying into town to be one of the judges in Bb Pilipinas 2014 Grand Coronation Night and will crown the Bb Pilipinas Universe

2. The presence of Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, who will most likely do final negotiation meetings and ocular inspections
Late last year, ABS-CBN executives led by Charo Santos-Concio were said to have flown to New York to bid for Miss Universe 2015 to be held in Manila and this move is being supported by the Department of Tourism as a necessary boost to the “It’s More Fun In the Philippines” campaign.
The last Miss Universe held in Manila was 20 years ago, or 1994 to be exact. The crown was won by India’s Sushmita Sen.
We wholeheartedly support the holding of Miss Universe in the Philippines for two major reasons:
1. This country truly loves and adores beauty queens … not just our own. Whenever a major beauty pageant is held, everything goes on standstill…. like in a Pacquiao fight 🙂
2. The Philippines’ showing in worldwide beauty pageants has been phenomenal, capped by the crowning of Megan Young as Miss World and Bea Rose Santiago as Miss International last year. Others who have placed are Maria Venus Raj , 4th runner-up 2010; Shamcey Supsup, 3rd runner-up 2011; Janine Marie Tugonon, 1st runner-up 2012; and Ariella Arida, 3rd runner-up 2013 … all in Miss Universe.
