Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe 2010. She’s one of those whom we earlier predicted to win the crown in an earlier post (good job Ojie!)
Miss Philippines Venus Raj was acclaimed 4th runner up in the final pageant ceremony held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a favorite in the preliminary competitions early on.
The rest of the winners: first runner-up, Miss Jamaica; second runner-up, Miss Australia; and third runner-up, Ukraine.
Navarrete’s shining came in the question and answer portion when she was asked about the unsupervised use of the internet among the young. Through an interpreter, she said: ” I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time. We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”
Venus Raj answered a question by actor William Baldwin. What is one major mistake that you’ve done in your life and how do you intend to repair it? Venus said : “In my 22 years of existence, there is nothing major, major problem (sic) that I have done in my life.Because I am very confident with my family and the love they are giving to me. So thank you so much.”

Having endured public controversy on account of her late-registered Birth Certificate and then bravely overcoming it to recover her beauty crown from BPCI in time, MVRaj could have answered WBaldwin better by saying:
“One big mistake I may have made in life was omitting the inelegance of my complicated origins when I competed for the Binibining Pilipinas beauty crown. I righted the mistake by personally declaring a sad truth about my humble international beginnings. Happily, doing the right thing when it became due worked things out wonderfully and so, thank you so much to my family for all the love, for here I am tonight with confidence and audacity of hope to try to win as Miss Universe 2010!”
Considering that exotic and regal Miss Philippines was No.3 in swimsuit and No. 5 in gown (on same averaged rank with Miss Australia), do you think she would have made a different result had she cited imperfection? Still, making it to the Top 5 is already big honor by itself! CONGRATULATIONS, MISS RAJ!
At last Lupita Jones is happy for working too hard for Mexico to win more crown after her. Lupita is the first to be crowned Internationally if I am not mistaken. By the way how is Miss Universe 2010 related to Rolando Navarrete? The famous boxer before lol.
