She was quite insecure that she wasn’t tall enough for an international competition, but 18-year old Maureen Wroblewitz managed to run away with the plum prize in Asia’s Next Top Model 2017,an original production by FOX Networks Group Asia for popular general entertainment channel StarWorld. She’s the first Filipina winner of the reality TV show.
Maureen stunned the judges in the final couture runway show which had her walking in a pearl-studded avant garde white gown. For her winning feat, she took home a Subaru Impreza vehicle, fashion spread in Nylon Singapore, and a modeling contract with Storm Model Management in London.
Judges were Host Cindy Bishop, Creative Director Yu Tsai, Special Guest Judge Pia Wurtzbach, Guest Judge Adele Chan (Editor-in- Chief of Nylon Singapore) and Guest Judge Ruby Adler (Storm Model Management, London).
“Winning Asia’s Next Top Model is a dream that I never want to
wake up from. It’s hard to describe how happy I am to have won this for my country – The Philippines. Am grateful for the support and judges’ encouragement every step of the way and couldn’t have asked for a better start to my career as a model,” Maureen said while gracing her post-victory AsNTM viewing party with friends at the Palace Pool Club in BGC.
AsNTM’s original 14 contestants were whittled down to the final three over 13 episodes.Shikin Gomez of Malaysia and Minh Tu Nguyen of Vietnam competed with Maureen for the title.
Wroblewitz dedicated her win to her mother who died when she was only 11. She was discovered on Instagram when she was only 15 years old and was actually the youngest and shortest of the competitors.
