We know UCC as one chain that has mastered their coffee and to all this they’ve added a new business concept called UCC Mentore. When you’re in Makati City, you can’t miss their new building which is right in front of Raffles/Fairmont hotels.
At UCC Mentore, they’re showcasing new ways to make coffee, and more blends to choose from. What’s most interesting is how they’re mixing our favorite brew with alcohol. Hence, those intriguing coffee cocktails are a must-try at this place.
To the left is one drink I tried called Millionaire’s … quite expensive at P380 but worth trying if you want to expand your horizons beyond the traditional. This was delicious but not overpowering, a heady mix of Dutch coffee with Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua, Frangelico hazelnut and herb-flavored liqueur.
Or there’s the more potent Coffee & Cognac (P450), espresso mixed with Remy Martin & Kahlua.
The food has the usual UCC line-up but with new additions to the menu. I really loved the salads, and they come in generous portions too.
The Spicy Shabu Shabu salad (P340) has a yummy light vinaigrette and the beef slices, sukiyaki-style, were tender and tasty.
The bestselling UCC Seafood Salad (P440) looks good enough to share for two if you’re having other dishes and comes in a honey Dijon dressing.
The pork omurice with hamburger (P400) is ample as well and I liked the addition of two fresh spring rolls.
My seatmate’s ginger pork steak (P370).
Fried shrimp curry with rice (P400) –
