Kapag ako ay nagpupunta sa Bacolod, ang kanilang chicken inasal ang gusto kong pagpiyestahan. I can eat this food consecutively for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Totoo naman kasi that the best place to eat chicken inasal is in Bacolod, at ang mura pa ng chicken barbecue nila dito – only P55 per stick, if am not mistaken, at our favorite restaurant Aida’s, in Manokan Country. Kaya naman pagbalik ko ng Manila, Bacolod chicken inasal pa rin ang gusto kong kainin. There’s something about eating it – all juicy from the wood fire, then pairing with garlic rice and heaping achuete chicken oil on top. Ang picture na ito ay kinunan during a recent dinner sa JT’s Manukan Grill in Malugay St. Makati. JT stands for the award-winning actor Joel Torre who owns the place and is a native of Bacolod.
Am glad that when I am craving for good ol’ chicken inasal, there are now authentic places to try it in Manila. By authentic, I mean the chicken is tender and juicy and not all dried out. Tapos, the rice should have garlic bits on top plus chicken oil. JT’s Manukan is a great place to try if you want Bacolod food and Ilonggo cuisine in general.

Type ko rin ang Bacolod chicken inasal. Gusto ko i-try din sa Mang Inasal at dyaan sa JT’s Manukan Grill. Malayo nga lang sa lugar ko. Ano kaya ang pagkakaiba nila sa luto.
