One of these days I’ll have to write something about the Manila Bulletin’s Technews lab which houses all the latest gizmos and gadgets, sometimes even before they are distributed in the Philippines or written about in the other newspapers. Every time I visit this publication I write for (which is as frequent as once a month, to get my check, lol) I am amazed at the variety and diversity of the technology on display, which just lie around scattered in the whole workplace, such as my editor’s table. These include the newest state-of-the-art laptops, printers. MP3 players, gaming consoles and cellphones, among others.
Having said so, I couldn’t resist borrowing from my fellow writer and reviewer,Paul, LG’s much-vaunted 5 megapixel cameraphone. The KG920 is quite the same in bulk as Nokia’s 6680 or N70 and I guess the best thing about this is its high-resolution cam. Guess we”ll just have to wait for the MB review before I blabber about what this phone is all about.
Btw, I posed with the LG cellphone during the launch of the new HP notebooks at the Ayala Museum. Guess what , colleague Paul (again) ran away with the presscon’s grand prize which was HP’s latest 2400 series notebook priced at about $2000. Whew! Wonder why some of us aren’t lucky in winning at these events (even though chances here are greater than winning the lotto). Unlucky in love, unlucky in raffles pa, tsk!tsk!
After the unfortunate snatching incident, I am presently making do with my basic phone and resisting the urge to buy a new, fully-featured one. It will soon be Christmas and thievery will be a- plenty so am more careful. Sometimes I think that an expensive cellphone might not be a good investment in a place like Manila which doesn’t provide security to its users since it’s much-desired by thieves (!!!!) But really, I do miss my radio, bluetooth connectivity and taking pictures with the cam’s phone for this blog. I have to admit: cellphones have become all-in-one, do it-all gadgets indispensable to our daily living.

I agree, cellphones are a necessary “do-it-all” evil nowadays. I have a Sony Ericsson W800i and I’m happy with it (more than my previous Nokias).

Haay… my phone is so old. It doesn’t even have a camera. 🙁

It’s okay as long as you have a separate digicam Toe. But I know how you feel. The bad thing about cellphones is we always want to upgrade them 🙁
