Honestly, I never thought that covering the blog beat can be very overwhelming. The number of blogger meet-ups and events in the past months- both formal and informal – have been so much more than you can imagine and now, there’s the Philippine Blog Awards to round it all up.
PBA 2007 is the first venture of such kind to be organized by bloggers, for the country’s bustling community of bloggers. Although a similar search has been done before, it has not generated as much buzz as it is now. Blogging in the country is growing at a staggering speed – more people are getting into it as a creative outlet or otherwise, others are earning money from it and award-giving bodies like the PBA can contribute a lot in keeping the momentum alive.
A look at the PBA website shows that there are now a substantial number of entries for the different categories. Nominations for the best blogs have been extended until March 4. If you’re somebody who is oozing with talent yet languishing in blogging obscurity for the past year, now is the time to shine… go ahead, vote for your own blog, or at least ask your best friend to do so 😛
Personally, I feel that the awards can do with some improvements in the future. Like proclaiming a Blogger of the Year, or declaring a Best Food Blog instead of lumping it all in the Home & Living Category. Still I am honored to be picked out as one of the Board of Judges for this year’s Awards. I am honored because there’s just so much talent out there waiting to be discovered. And being a blogger myself, I know how this craft requires one’s time, dedication and creativity.

i know a few blogs who i think should’ve been nominated: owned by Pinoys yet not much visited due to the author has no time to bloghop. I found out in order for your blog to be popular, you need to do bloghopping 🙁
anyway, it’s a good start. I just commented on her blog that next year, i’ll nominate her– that is if I can see the announcement early 🙁
