After a neck-and-neck election fight, former Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay is ready to be proclaimed Vice President of the Philippines, succeeding Noli de Castro. We’ve said before how Binay delivered the biggest upset in the elections, after all he was just a dark horse believed to be trailing the other candidates who had national standing. This news report examines the jejemon Jejomar phenomenon more closely.
In the meantime, here’s our message to the VP-apparent: “go0d lucK P0 P0wH. Ang yamN-yaMn ng Mkt P0WH. SNa~ P0Wh~ MPYAMN Ny0 riN~ Ang Bu0NG pins p0wH. JEJEjEj ” Binay will be proclaimed, along with President-elect Noynoy Aquino today, June 9. Ironically, while Aquino won by landslide against his rivals, Binay’s lead over Mar Roxas is the slimmest in recent history _ a mere 727,000 or so votes.
Followers of Mar Roxas are still stumped with what happened to their bet, to say the least. Although an election protest is believed to be forthcoming.
What could have gone wrong with the Roxas campaign? We can only offer a few guesses.

It’s the color blue. As I was reading a lot of opinions in the papers, I believe the one which said that Jejomar Binay was capitalizing on his alliance with the Aquino family. Having supported both Noynoy’s parents, he was never really seen by the people as anti-Aquino. Mar Roxas didn’t give in to wearing yellow created somewhat a disassociation I guess. And due to the death of Cory Aquino, the party is capitalizing on the reputation of the former president as well as that of people’s emotions.
Chiz’s recommendation also helped… a lot. And at the right time, I might add.

I agree with the factors you mentioned Kristel. It’s still a long way off but I guess Mar and Binay can still face each other in 2016. Depends on his performance as VP but heck, Nay-bi is now in line as the next President of the Republic 😀
