This dish mystified me, I simply had to order it.
Is it a pasta, or a dessert? Judge for yourself.
But the fact that it was placed in the cake counter made me think: surely, that is a dessert? The next thing to do was taste it.
Aah, the magic of the pastry bag! It is actually a tart with a spiral shaped cream frosting that tasted like almond and some nut (maybe ginko nut?) Kinda hard to imagine since am not a pastry chef but yes, the magic you can do with the right tools.
The dessert called Mont Blanc was the highlight of my meal at TCC (short for The Coffee Connoisseur), a chain of coffeeshops in Singapore, which the hubby calls “significantly overpriced.” How else can you call a mid-afternoon meal which cost us Singapore $80 (roughly 2600 pesos)? It was like eating steak at Starbucks!
And all for ordering two pastas, two Cokes and a couple of appetizers. They actually gave us the Mont Blanc and brewed coffee for free after hubby (who’s not used to ranting, btw) called their attention to being served Doritos when in fact he ordered nachos with tomato salsa and cheese dip. It was just unforgivable for somebody who loves his Mexican food.
As for me who wasn’t paying, I took it all in stride though you can just imagine what 2600 pesos can buy you in Manila, yes? Somehow, we agreed that Singaporean food (even the so-called hawker one) is expensive. I did like my meal of Seafood Aglio Olio, but the trick is not to convert how much this cost in pesos (clue: it can buy me a wagyu burger here already.)
The beef lasagna which hubby ordered.
And their hors d’ouevres called Shroom Bites… short for sauteed mushroom in a mini puff pastry filling. It was good actually.
Their prices (and Doritos) notwithstanding, I’d give TCC some points for presentation. 😀 For more info, please visit their website

The Shroom bites and lasagna were good, but the pricing, for a mall location cafe, is simply ridiculous. $51.26 USD for a single meal for two, that’s one appetizer and one entree each, plus sodas. Never mind the 10% Service Charge they factor in automatically. Ugh. With a hit or miss menu, how do they survive, on these prices? Should have realized there was a reason no pictures of Nachos to be found in the menu 🙁
