The flight was delayed for 30 minutes and it felt like I was in a microwave oven in that CX plane (hot, hot, hot!)but I am finally in HK. From the airport, we took the Express Train (fare:P600) then a taxi to our hotel which our host warned was “in the middle of nowhere.” What do you know, it’s the coolest, funkiest place I’ve ever stayed in. I am simply in love with the Le Meridien Cyberport, and am glad it will be my home for the next three days. These are the things I adore: the hip, contemporary designs; the view of the bay from my window; the 42-inch plasma TV in my room; the plush bed with Egyptian linen and pillows; and the wireless high-speed internet am using now. Also got to use their cardiovascular gym where they even lend you an iPod Mini to get more inspired in those workouts. In my suite, there are mirrors all over and a “walk-in rain shower.” The only thing missing was a bathtub (*big cry). If my hotel is as nice and cozy as this, guess I’ll have to forego all that shopping and walking around. I don’t mean it of course. Looking forward to seeing the city tomorrow.
This shot was taken from my room with a view of the Bay, the road and some greenery. The University of Hong Kong is just around the vicinity. It takes about 25 minutes by bus to get to the central shopping area from the hotel although there are high-end gadget and design shops in the adjoining Cyberport mall.
We ate our first decent meal of the day at 3 p.m. and it’s not even Chinese… Hainanese chicken with fried rice (and nuts??) plus chicken feet soup. For a hungry soul like me, it was quite good. Can’t wait to try the food in this territory.
Maybe the best meal is yet to come!
