After a nightmare of a bus ride, we were happy enough to check in at Hotel St. Ellis on Rizal St. Legazpi City. The inviting lobby bathed in soft hues didn’t disappoint me, and more so when I saw the bedroom. This is their standard room which looked regal enough. I agree with one of the commenters in Foursquare who said ” Beware of their pillows and bed, you might not want to get up for your early flight.” There’s something about the pillows in the room – so comfy!
I guess the only thing that works against the room is that it doesn’t have a bath tub. Also, I failed to get a view of the famed Mayon Volcano because it was covered in clouds that day.
The reception area. I gave this hotel a good review on Trip Advisor because they also delivered great service despite the fact that we got our room at a discounted rate through one of the groupons (P3,000 from the usual P6,000++ …. it was a good deal!) Of course it helped that they didn’t have too many checked-in guests during our visit. Free wi-fi only worked in the lobby.
The hotel coffeeshop where we took our buffet breakfast. I didn’t take food pictures but it was satisfying enough. I just wished they had Bicol fare in there. But the pili cheesecake is a must-try for dessert.
Legazpi City is overall a quiet town. One can easily get a trike to go from one point to another. Our taxi driver even volunteered to be our tour guide (at a tour guide rate) but I was only interested to eat Bicol food 🙂 A walking distance from our hotel was the city’s seafood market and Embarcadero, a seaside strip mall. I enjoyed the little boutiques in the area.
