Have you ever been to Hung Hom in Hong Kong? Most of us haven’t, LOL. Located on the southeastern part of Kowloon, this area was quite a revelation since what can be seen here are mostly traditional shophouses that’s unlike the modern part of HK. But it’s very refreshing still that a sleek new modern hotel has opened in this part of town. The name: Hotel sáv.
sáv is part of Chuang’s Group which also owns hotels/resorts in Taipei, Xiamen and Cebu City. Its CEO & founder Edwin Chuang is only 30 and graduated with a degree in architecture, interior & urban planning from Parsons School New York. This explains why the sáv brand is as stylish as it can get.
Bar that adjoins the reception area…
Part of the lobby. Some of the key staff were garbed in all-white.
This counter was pretty neat. Loved to chill in here.
The hotel’s official merchandise items for sáv Beachwear, like the sunglasses, were on display too.
The most remarkable part of Hotel sáv were the rooms. They’re compact, like what one can expect of HK but comfortably & elegantly laid out.We recommend booking on level 22 which houses the Floor of Love featuring the commissioned works of international caliber artists and even those of talented persons with disability in Hong Kong.
The 22nd floor accommodations are virtual galleries in themselves. This room called “Love the Dream” was created by Hong Kong artist Sarah Tse (now based in New York). It even contains her drawing pad, books & other personal mementoes that art lovers will surely savor.
Another interesting room personalised by multimedia artist Janine Claase
On the wall: works by E Herder who is known for his circle-based art
And more….
Even the bathroom has art
Toiletries are provided by Storm London
I caught up with my friend, Barbie Chan, the hotel group’s marketing communications director at their all-day dining restaurant called Palette. Really love the colors and the contemporary design of this outlet.
We had their semi-lunch buffet (priced as low as HKD$65) which was just how I wanted it to be: light, refreshing and delicious. They offer organic greens and low-fat salad dressings for health-conscious diners.
Some of the yummy food we ate in the semi-buffet: pizza and roasted chicken breast…
The Sonic Garden, which is located in the outdoor terrace, is a lounge & chillout area. It will be equipped with a topnotch stereo sound system from Italy when fully finished, hence the name ‘Sonic.’
As a contemporary lifestyle hotel, sav HK offers guests a seamless check-in experience by just using their mobile phones. They can use same phone to access their rooms as well, although one can also use the standard key card.
Handy smartphones are also provided to guests if they don’t have one. Of course they can use the phone to make local & international calls, surf the net and enjoy unlimited 3G access above all.
The hotel has 388 guest rooms and the facilities to match it. Services include a 24-hour concierge, 24-hour gym and 24 hour room service.
