During one of those rare times when am in faraway Quezon City, media colleague Jerry Liao proudly showed me the entrepreneurship project of his three kids CJ, Jam and Jaya. They’ve opened a stall named Oat Square in Tomas Morato which focuses on delicious oat-based drinks and food products. I immediately liked the logo.
The first thing that crossed my mind was: glad it’s not another milk tea joint! I like the whole concept of focusing on oats since as the owners say, oats are proven to prevent diabetes, high blood pressure and the build-up of cholesterol. Not to mention, it’s also a proven anti-oxidant.
I was almost expecting a warm bowl of oatmeal. On that midday, I wanted one. It turns out they don’t offer that. Instead, they have this menu of oat-based pastries, cold drinks and ice cream.
I love these oatmeal niblets. They were really good. Aside from this, Oat Square also has brownies, revel bars and brownies that are just as delicious. Priced affordably starting at P135 for a box of eight.
The oat drinks were the next thing I tried. For the classics, they had Mochalicious, ChocoBlast, Cinnamon, Vanilla and Oreo. But I settled for Oat Square Original which was only P50 for a 12-ounce cup. It was refreshing to say the least.
To satiate your thirst, Oat Square has a lot of other flavors for their drinks like Taro, Avocado, Melon, Lychee, Papaya, Strawberry etc.
The last thing I tried was their pioneering product called Oat Ice Pops which reminded me of Pinipig Crunch. As a frozen treat, this is really promising but I think having more of the chocolatey taste will make it more delicious. So yes, I hope you can improve on this 🙂 Other ice pops flavors available are strawberry, avocado, cappuccino and ube. They cost as little as P40 per stick.
I can see that a joint like this will do well in schools and campuses or maybe Fitness First? LOL. There’s a lot of potential for a business premised on a “get healthy” concept. Let’s promote and support Filipino entrepreneurship ….. more power to CJ, Jam and Jaya Liao of Oat Square!
