Kuya Kim Atienza is a survivor of two health scares and he’s been an open book about it. But somehow, his journey to being fit needs retelling because a lot of people can learn from it, and be inspired in the process. He also believes that by being alive now at the age of 55, God sent him a message to teach others and not to take his life for granted, that’s why he’s been “born again.”
“There was a time in my life when I was so busy with that I neglected my diet. I didn’t do any physical activity beyond getting up and going to work,” Kuya Kim said, recalling his former life as a politician and TV personality. Then in 2010 he suffered from a stroke, and after miraculously recovering from it, he changed his life’s habits, even becoming a triathlete. It was all part of his silent vow to God that he would be at his healthiest form ever should he get well.
But then in 2013, another challenge came for Kuya Kim in the form of being diagnosed with the Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). He said this was the same disease that killed 80’s child actress Julie Vega, only that there was not much research about it then. It’s a disorder where the body’s immune system is compromised and attacks the nerves. Rightly so, Kuya Kim felt paralysis creeping up in his hands and feet. He recalled that to be treated of GBS, his medicine cost him from P300,000 to P500,000 per day.
Obviously, not everyone can survive a health crisis with expensive medications like that, that’s why Kuya Kim is encouraging people to be proactive about their health. This is actually what he’s doing in his newest role as the new ambassador of Watsons Brand Vitamin B Complex.
Having survived a life-threatening disease like Guillain-Barre Syndrome which attacked the nerves, Kuya Kim is religious in taking vitamins and supplements every day, especially Vitamin B Complex.
” With my partnership with a trusted name like Watsons, I want to tell people that it does not cost a lot to be healthy. Anyone can Switch and Save to Watsons Vitamin B Complex, which is of high quality and affordable,” said Kuya Kim, who is currently the host of the variety show TiktoClock on the Kapuso network.
Vitamin B Complex is composed of eight vitamins, including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, and cobalamin. As the building blocks of a healthy body, Vitamin B Complex has a direct impact on energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism. It is vital in maintaining good health and overall wellness and helps repair damaged cells and keeps the nervous system healthy.
