In a world dominated by multinational beauty brands, the story of the all-Filipino label Kojiesan inspires. It was put up by a former employee who got tired of the corporate world and set out on her own.
From a small office in a residential area of Makati, Kojiesan’s company called Beauty Elements Venture’s Inc. or BEVI now operates from an entire building in the South. It also owns six hectares of manufacturing facilities in San Pablo, Laguna, providing employment to more than 500 employees.
BEVI’s success story is phenomenal no less. From a few dozen orders to millions of bars sold, the soap steadily became a favorite among Filipinos.
Kojiesan – with its unique formulation of original kojic acid soap mixed with virgin coconut oil – suddenly became a byword among Pinay users who spread its efficacy in lightening skin. Soon enough, it was exported and reached an army of global believers.
The Kojiesan Classic Line includes the Skin Lightening Soap, Cleanser+Toner, Face Lightening Cream, and Body Lightening Lotion.
Due to the success of its flagship products, it has also extended its range to include those dealing with anti-aging, acne treatment, men’s skincare, cellulite control, sunblock, and fragrances. Here’s the new Kojiesan Dream White skincare range…
“We will continue to innovate products and expand our distribution to bring the highest level of consumer experience to a greater number of people,” says BEVI marketing head, Tricia Gregorio.
Some of the recognition Kojiesan has received includes the “Bath Soap Brand of the Year” at the Watson’s Health and Beauty Awards for five consecutive years the and
Consumer “SM Top Choice” Awards.
We attended the Kojiesan 10th anniversary party at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza last August 10. It was indeed one glamorous, fantabulous event befitting of how far the brand has come in the industry.
It was one of those rare moments when I wore a long gown because the invite said to wear formal attire. I wore something from the US label ABS by Allen Schwartz (absstyle.com). My hair braid and make-up was done by my daughter Dionne. She’s 16 and has the talent for these things…thank God 🙂
Kojiesan Sales Director Jun Matos ticked off some stats about the accomplishments Kojiesan has achieved in the market and what their future programs are.
Aside from the overflowing buffet, there was a highly entertaining program with celebrities led by Jonalyn Viray, a Japanese-inspired cultural performance and a fashion show….
10 years is indeed one good reason to celebrate. Congratulations again Team Kojiesan…you’ve come a long way!
