In all probability, I won’t be going out of Manila during the Holy Week madness. But the whole clan did spend an enjoyable time in Batangas for the past few days to enjoy the beaches before all the crowds pour in.
The seaside towns of Batangas province will always be desirable destinations for burned-out cityslickers like me since it’s just two hours’ drive from Manila.
The collage of photos show our stopover in the Sampaguita Beach Resort in Bauan town. By Batangas standards, the beachfront is already nice since it has white (not black) sand. There was no huge placard or banner announcing the name of this beach. We just stumbled upon it while enjoying a nice boat ride from Lemery town, hopping from island to island. There are a number of resorts along the Bauan shoreline but not as nice as Sampaguita. The mini-resort has open-air cottages which you can rent for P300 and overnight rooms pegged at P1,500 for as much as 33 hours use. You can also cook your food here, go on a picnic, swim or just enjoy the view. The comfort room is well-maintained and from the distance you can see the adjacent town of Anilao which is one of the top diving spots in the Philippines.
Certainly my kids had a nice time frolicking in the water and in the sun. It is their first time to do so after classes ended this year. I am proud to say that all of us now sport a nice tan. Life is indeed glorious in these islands!

It’s in my Feb 2005 archives. Staying in Camp John Hay is a high, and I esp. liked the food. The head chef there is Billy King of Le Souffle fame:smile:

Hello peeps… yes, the beach we went to was one of those out-of-the-way places not listed in tourism brochures but still beautiful.
It was such a lovely day when we got there, I secretly wished we stayed there forever:smile:

ajay! i agree with toni. never heard of these beaches. we had our outing at munting buhangin in nasugbu and it was a sleeper. definitely gonna try this. hey, thanks for participating in the perception exercise. you can view the results if you want. have a great vacation.
ajay says
Tell me how your trip went, Jerome. I already read the results of your perception exercise and it was sooo fun. Yes, others can really (mis)judge people by the way they look. Gives us food for thought. Happy Easter!

hi ajay,
i was searching for a site on sampaguita beach in batanags… i’d like to go there with my family this summer. can you tell me how? i learned of the place when we went to lemery batangas (punzalan beach resort) and was told by a boat rider that if we want to see a white beach in batangas, we can go for a boat ride about 1 hr from where we stayed in lemery to sampaguita beach. but i’d rather go to there directly with out stopping over at lemery. i hope you can help us, a contact number of the place would be better as well. even a few landmarks going there, it will help us find the place.
thanks and hope you reply to me.
