It’s official: Friendster is so 2003. It’s like living in a time warp with all the jologs people in the universe 😀
I realized this while having lunch with my brother last Saturday. I asked him to tell my niece (his daughter) why she hasn’t accepted my Friend Request, pending for the longest time. He tells him she’s hanging out in MySpace.
It has been a long time since I’ve taken a serious jab at the dating sites and all these social networking things. I don’t have a dime of a time to spare in the world and am not necessarily looking. The only reason why I registered with Facebook recently was because our GlobeRoamerTV team created an account with it and also on MySpace. Chatting in our group forum composed of five Americans and one Australian, I felt like an alien because they weren’t even mentioning Friendster. I just had to say it’s big in the Philippines.
Needless to say, Facebook has a more seamless interface and a countless interesting applications I have yet to try out for myself. I guess the one big problem with Friendster is that it often hangs, and an “error” log is displayed even when you think you posted right. The overall design also needs an overhaul. Sometimes am forced to wonder if those Friendster programmers are being paid their salaries on time. I’ll definitely be exploring more of Facebook, they have lots of cool stuff which allows you to interact with your friends and get to know them in the best way possible, plus a cool widget you can show on your blog.
My LinkedIn profile is also something I need to polish when I have the time. It’s more of a professional networking site and who knows who can stumble upon your CV in the world wide web. I like how this site gets down to business and does away with the spiffy frills of the social networks.
Happy linking!

Well it is true that friendster is so like last season. Though MySpace even it is as old as Friendster still manage to be trendy due to Hollywood’s and the music industry’s influence. Also I like facebook more since it is also in at my school. I’ll add you on facebook

Just added you in my Friendster.
I used to have an account in MySpace kaso dami kong naencounter na mga bastos na messages from Americans, kaya I decided to delete my account and stay with Friendster. Yun lang ang bagal kasi ng Friendster lagi.

there’s even an article mentioned before that Filipinos are partly the reason why Friendster failed to dominate the social networking market. it may be the pioneer of social networking but Myspace surpassed it in terms of revenue since most Filipinos do not buy products being advertised in Friendster, they don’t even bother to click an ad at all.

Thanks Chase. You and Toni are now my friends on Facebook…yey!
Hi Mitch. Thanks for the FR (friend request on Friendster) Truth to tell, I haven’t tried MySpace. Am already having a hard time here memorizing pazzwords to all the sites, hehe
Hi Blogging….that’s an interesting insight. Maybe that’s the reason why Friendster closed its office in the Philippines. They should brainstorm for more money-making ideas..am sure there are!

I wonder why Facebook uses words like “zombie” in their latest scripts.
Nakaka-nerbiyos.
(That’s why I haven’t responded to your request, Ajay. The new script you’re using at Facebook uses words connected with breaking into networks…)

Okey lang yun Manuel. Yes I have to admit some of the Facebook apps boggle me. As in…overload! 😀
