Some of us already know that IKEA is finally opening in the Philippines.This is a fact confirmed by Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries not too long ago. The next questions are when and where? And the answer to those are: within a year’s time, and in Cavite province, baby.
These tiny facts were confirmed to us by a Swedish source in a gathering recently. The only problem was Cavite province has 23 cities and/or municipalities and it’s hard to make a guess (the source won’t say anything more).
Bacoor or Imus? The traffic is just horrendous over there. Tagaytay is a bit far, with narrow roads and too touristy. Carmona or Dasmarinas more like it, they already have these industrial parks. And an IKEA location certainly needs a sizable area with a thousand square meters, at least.
Prior to this, Filipinos like moi who are crazy about IKEA’s distinctive minimalist designs and wallet-friendly prices were content visiting nearby Hong Kong and Singapore to shop for the stuff.
And now that the wait isn’t too long before the Philippines hosts its own IKEA store, the first queue will surely be kilometric. We hope they will also have the food section where we can have a fill of the Swedish meatballs, and then some 😀

Hello. This is very informative. Can i know the source of the news or where you there in the event? It would be very good if it will be in Cavite as my wife is from Cavite. It will be very accessible. We have IKEA here in Qatar and its nice that we also be able to experience it there in Manila. Thanks in advance for the reply.
Yesssss!!! The Ikea behind Sogo is always a must stop for me every time I go to HK! But some items are just too bulky and fragile to travel home with. This is good news, pero whyyyy so far away huhu. Hope they’ll eventually have a branch nearer Manila.
