A lot of girls had a crush with Rustom Padilla, way back when he was younger and married to Carmina Villaroel. I admit I found him attractive too. Here’s an old picture:
It was in 2003 that he came to full realization that he was gay and it wasn’t until 2006 or so that he admitted publicly about his orientation. Fast forward to 2009 and everybody’s talking about the birth of a new woman. Gone with Rustom, in with BB Gandanghari:
Pictures from the bloggers’ Meet and Greet with BB at mag:net Bonifacio High Street today.
“She” is thinner and older but she looks at peace and content, having found “herself.”
What I find impressive about BB’s self-discovery is that she was able to do so in communion with her God. She appears to be deeply religious, and dispels the notion about gay men being often promiscuous. She is still praying for her True Love to arrive and would like to include gay marriage as one of her advocacies for the LGBT (lesbian-gay-bisexual-transexual) sector , if given the chance someday.
The fact that she has come out of the closet doesn’t mean she’s averse to playing male roles. This award winner says: ” I love Pinoy characters. If there’s a good character who’s male, I can do that.”
No, her mother hasn’t come to terms with her new-found femininity (we’re not sure about how her macho brother Robin Padilla reacted either.) Public acceptance for BB has been good except for a person in this upscale mall-cum-restaurant complex who almost denied her entry in the Ladies’ Room. She won’t ever go into the Men’s Room because ” a lady won’t do that.”
She’s against any form of physical enhancement because she says she’s comfortable with her body. BB’s vital stats at present are 36-25-36. I’d have to OD on her “fruits for breakfast” diet soon.:D
Quotable quote:
“When you have come to realize that you’re gay, that’s when you turn to God, not to ask Him to change you, but to ask Him for forgiveness, mercy and more importantly, acceptance.” Via poc.net
This is all factual reportage of the event for now, I’ll leave the philosophizing later. A liberal like me doesn’t really have any sermon to give BB. Whatever makes you happy girl! Viva BB!

I used to have a very big crush on him when I was still a kid. Now I look up to her as a model in terms of fashion and style.
I haven’t written anything about the meet-up yet, but I am happy I went there last Saturday. Finally had the chance to talk to him.. or her 😀
