Mother’s Day found me chilling out with the kids at the sprawling Mt. Malarayat Golf & Country Club in Lipa City. I’ve heard positive comments about this place from some friends and so I was glad to experience it first hand. I was happy to find out they have the facilities to beat the summer blues away such as swimming pools, a 27-hole golf course and separate country clubs for kids and adults. The landscape was also breathtaking. The best part I think was staying at their newly established hotel which was built in time for the coming Philippine Open on the third week of May. They have cozy rooms for families which has two bathrooms (with bathtubs) and a loft.
Last Tuesday, my food editor-friend J tagged me along to the Westin Philippine Plaza’s Poolside Barbecue – a buffet I wanted to try for a long time. The night was hot and humid as usual but it was simply great to be hanging out by the Westin’s fantastic poolside with the breeze coming in from Manila Bay and a cultural presentation by native dancers to entertain us. The poolside itself, called “Treasure Island,” is very scenic.I recommend this place if you are showing the sights to your foreigner-friends and balikbayan relatives. It will likely not disappoint.
The buffet, priced at P1,080++, is rather sparse but value for money just the same considering that the spread features all-you-can-eat lamb chops, prawns, baby back ribs, fish and other seafoods. It was also my first time to try Kobe Beef which was priced at P2,200 per serving but was definitely worth forgetting your name for every bite.J & I also got a kick out of ordering the Drink of the Month (alcoholic version) which came with a big stuffed toy. Thanks Yasmin!
