Someone had given me a gift certificate for an overnight stay at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel and it made sense to use it for the long vacation. While the rest of humanity toiled in crowded airports, seaports and bus terminals, Manila after Christmas was paradise because of NO TRAFFIC…yahoo! We arrived from our homebase in the South to Eastwood, Quezon City in 30 minutes or less.
Eastwood Richmonde is a four-star hotel with 39 floors owned by the Philippines’ largest property developer Megaworld Corp. Its lobby was grand enough and loved that it was nicely decked out for Christmas.
The front desk & reception area where we checked in.
Here’s the superior room which we occupied. It had a large, king-sized bed.
I only had the two girls with me since the other one was sick.Selfie time: the nearer we are to each other, the closer we get 🙂
The toddler preferred to stay in the room just watching Disney Channel. There was also a work desk and an iPod docking station.
Even though the superior room was the lowest room category, the washroom had a bath tub.
The view from the balcony….
We had buffet breakfast and lunch at the Eastwood Cafe which was very nice-looking. There were also not a lot of patrons that weekend so it wasn’t crowded.
On my plate. The buffet had all the essentials which was good since I don’t want to be overwhelmed with selections anyway.
The apparent deficiency of this hotel is the lack of free wi-fi connection. There was none even found at the lobby. Guests have to subscribe to the in-house internet at the rate of P500 per day. I really don’t know Richmonde management’s decision for doing this since wi-fi service is pretty basic for most establishments in this day and age.But fortunately, it was no issue for me since it was one of those times when I wanted to LAY LOW from using the internet, haha.
As I said, the best thing about this hotel is its location. It connects to the Eastwood Mall by accessing an entrance on the second floor. The adjacent walkways pretty much connects to everything in the sprawling Eastwood City development with its plethora of shops, bars and restaurants.
Because my daughters preferred to be holed up in the room, I opted to do some people watching from my vantage point in Jack’s Loft, enjoying a glass of mojito.
The place was so alive that night. There was a midnight bazaar and people were milled around this kiddie attraction called Bungee Fun.
And guess what….I even posed with robots!
Overall, we had a satisfactory, relaxing stay in Eastwood Richmonde Hotel. We weren’t able to use the swimming pool or gym (both are located on the 39th floor)….. but saving that for next time!
